About the event

Join us at The Grateful Crow for an intimate solo performance by Max Lockwood, a dynamic songwriter, vocalist, multi-instrumentalist, and poet. Max’s music is rooted in songcraft and heartfelt lyricism, blending rock, folk, and pop to create a fresh take on the singer-songwriter genre. With full arrangements and rich, poetic lyrics, his songs form deep sonic landscapes that explore themes of love, adversity, and growth.

Max’s powerful voice, often compared to icons like Tom Petty and Bruce Springsteen, draws listeners in with its raw emotion and storytelling prowess. His debut record, Outrider, began as a creative writing thesis at the University of Michigan, and his self-titled sophomore album, released in 2019, showcases his refined maturity with lush, pop-sensible arrangements and vocals from Lindsay Lou and Sam Cooper. Both albums highlight Max’s commitment to the singer-songwriter tradition with thoughtfully vulnerable lyrics.

Beyond his solo work, Max is the frontman for The Insiders, a Michigan-based Tom Petty tribute band, and plays bass with beloved folk artist May Erlewine. Residing in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Max continues to write and grow as a music educator, channeling the flair of Tom Petty and the eloquence of the Beat Generation to create his distinctive sound. When Max Lockwood sings, he captures the attention of any crowd—don’t miss this unique opportunity to experience his unbridled spirit live at The Grateful Crow!
